Drug and/or alcohol detoxification, or detox, is the first step in a comprehensive rehabilitation program with an ultimate goal for patients to embark on and complete a journey toward a life free of substance abuse and addiction.

Drinking alcohol or using drugs over an extended period of time can create a physical dependence. This dependence makes the act of stopping use of these substances difficult, as lack of use can result in withdrawal symptoms in people with this dependence. The detoxification process is designed to treat the immediate effects of stopping alcohol/drug use and to remove the toxins left in the body as a result of the chemicals found in drugs and/or alcohol.

Detox is the first step you will take on your journey to recovery. At Freedom Recovery, we have access to a network of halfway houses and sober living facilities that specialize in drug and alcohol recovery, beginning with the detox process.
